Don’t Be Fooled: More People Are Poisoned By Toothpaste Than E-Juice for E-Cigarettes

Did you know that more people are poisoned by their toothpaste than by e-liquid? It’s true, although it seems the media would have you believing otherwise.

In fact, in 2012, Poison Control Centers report that there were 20,206 cases of toothpaste-related poisonings in this country, but last year, only 1,300 calls to the Poison Control Center were related to e-liquid.  And only 365 of those calls led to a hospital trip.

The media would have you believe that e-liquid is dangerous, but it eliminates all secondhand smoke, tar and tobacco–making the electronic cigarette much safer than cigarettes.

“While any poisoning episode should be taken seriously, the media makes it appear that e-liquid is one of the most threatening substances to hit the shelves in years. In reality, that’s far form true. Take a look at the 2012 report from the National Poison Data System and you will quickly see that there are thousands of reports of poisoning emergencies and fatalities that are much more severe than those associated with e-liquid.”

If we think like the FDA does, than perhaps we should be banning toothpaste, we wouldn’t want people dying from an overdose of clean teeth….
